Abolition

and Education Justice Resource Hub

is an organizing and education resource hub for abolitionist education, political learning, and community resource-sharing. This site is a living hub that connects students, parents, educators, and organizers with tools to fight the carcerality of schooling + all intersecting carceral systems and build liberatory education.

What is abolition?

We understand abolition as a movement rooted in the organizing to

1. End of all systems of punishment and control, including slavery, policing, prisons, anti-Blackness, white supremacy, racial capitalism, colonialism, occupation and U.S. imperialism.

2. Build collective power and create liberatory systems (a new world) rooted in care, the power of people, and freedom.

What does abolition have to do with education?

Our schools were never meant to nurture the freedom of Black, Brown, and poor youth and families of color. instead, They are sites of surveillance, punishment, and control.

From police in schools to standardized testing and purposeful underfunding of classrooms, the US educational system is built to uphold white supremacy and racial capitalism and control poor youth and families of color.

We reject educational reforms that sustain school carcerality and learn from revolutionary abolitionist history, youth, caregivers, and radical educators on how abolitionist organizing and learning is central for liberatory education and freedom
